About this kit
The GP Professional Chlamydia Swab Test Kit (Male & Female) is a CE-marked lateral flow test for the qualitative detection of Chlamydia trachomatis antigen in female cervical swab, male urethral swab, or male urine specimens. The result is read at 10 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 20 minutes.
Before you start
- Wash and dry your hands and use a clean, flat surface.
- Check the expiry date and that the test cassette pouch is sealed.
- Set a timer.
- Keep the leaflet in your pack beside you and follow the collection method shown for your sex.
How to do the test
- Take your swab sample (about 1 minute). Use the swab provided, following the female cervical or male urethral collection method shown on the pack for your sex.
- Insert the swab into the extraction tube (about 1 minute). Swirl the swab in the extraction buffer to release the sample, as described on the pack.
- Add reagent 2 and mix (about 30 seconds). Add 2 drops (approx. 100 µl) of reagent 2 to the extraction tube and mix well.
- Remove the swab (about 30 seconds). Press the swab against the side of the tube to wring out as much liquid as possible, then cap the tube with the dropper tip.
- Add the solution to the test cassette (about 30 seconds). Hold the tube vertically and add 3 drops of the extracted solution to the S well. Avoid trapping air bubbles, then start the timer.
- Wait, then read the result (10 minutes). Read the result at 10 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 20 minutes.
Reading your result
Use the result diagram in your pack. If the control line does not appear, the test has not run correctly and the result is invalid. The most common reason is not getting enough sample. You will need a new test to get a valid result.
